How do I clock in?

There are three ways to clock in with ShiftWallet:

  • Tap the Clock-In button on the home screen to start tracking your shift in real time.
  • Add a shift manually by tapping the "+" button and entering your start time, end time, and break duration.
  • Geofencing (Pro) — Set up your workplace location in Settings, and the app will automatically clock you in when you arrive and clock you out when you leave. Requires location permission.
How does paycheck verification work?

Paycheck verification (Pro feature) compares your logged shifts against your actual paycheck to detect discrepancies. Here's how it works:

  • Set up your pay rate, overtime rules, and night shift differentials in your job profile.
  • Log your shifts throughout the pay period.
  • When you receive your paycheck, enter the gross pay and hours your employer reported.
  • ShiftWallet calculates what your pay should be based on your logged hours and highlights any differences.

Note: Results are estimates based on the data you provide. Always verify with your employer or a payroll professional for official discrepancies.

How do I export my data?

With Pro, you can export your shift data in two formats:

  • CSV — A spreadsheet-compatible file with all your shifts, hours, and earnings. Great for importing into Excel or Google Sheets.
  • PDF — A formatted report summarizing your shifts for a selected date range. Useful for sharing with employers or keeping records.

Go to Settings > Export Data, select your date range and format, and the file will be saved to your Files app or shared via the iOS share sheet.

How do I delete my account?

To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

  • Open ShiftWallet and go to Settings.
  • Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
  • Confirm the deletion when prompted.

This will immediately remove all local data from your device and delete all your data from our cloud servers (Firebase) within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

Which countries are supported?

ShiftWallet works globally for basic shift tracking and earnings calculation. The tax estimation feature (Pro) currently supports specific tax rules for:

  • United States (federal + state)
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • Germany

For countries not listed, the app uses a general estimation model. We are continuously adding support for more countries. If your country is not supported, let us know at jan@digitalnafta.com.

Important: Tax estimates are approximations and should not replace professional tax advice.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We take your data security seriously:

  • Local storage: Your shift data is stored on-device using SwiftData with iOS data protection (encrypted at rest).
  • Cloud sync: Data synced to Firebase Firestore is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Firebase Security Rules ensure only you can access your data.
  • Authentication: We use Firebase Authentication with industry-standard protocols. We never store your password directly.
  • On-device calculations: All paycheck and tax calculations happen on your device. No financial data is sent to external servers for processing.
  • No data selling: We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

Troubleshooting

App won't open or crashes?
Try force-quitting the app and reopening it. If the issue persists, make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store. You can also try deleting and reinstalling the app (your cloud-synced data will be restored when you sign back in).

Geofencing not working?
Make sure Location Services are set to "Always" for ShiftWallet in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. The "While Using" setting is not sufficient for background geofencing.

Calendar sync issues?
Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars and ensure ShiftWallet has access. If shifts are not appearing, try toggling the calendar permission off and on again.
